MANILA, Aug. 11 (PNA) — National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) officer–in-charge Chief Supt. Joel D. Pagdilao lauded and gave awards to the best performing policemen who completed the Shotgun Training Class 02-2015-RNCR and Field Training Officer Development Program (FTODP) Class 83-2015-RNCR held on Tuesday at the NCRPO Grandstand, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.
Of the 59 participants of the Shotgun Training, PO1 Joel K. Bugnay of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) topped his class, while Chief Insp. Reycon L. Garduque of the Northern Police District (NPD) received a leadership award.
The “Top Gun” awards were given to PO1 Rowell A. Contillo of the Eastern Police District (EPD), male category, and to PO1 Angeline G. Torres of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), female category.
On the other hand, 45 participants completed the Field Training Officer Development Program (FTODP). The Field Training Officers (FTOs) are responsible for the training of new police recruits who will be assigned in the field.
The NCRPO chief congratulated all the graduates and encouraged them to showcase their gained knowledge in their corresponding areas of responsibility.
Pagdilao, in his eight-point agenda, has committed that during his watch, the NCRPO will continue honing the skills of the NCRPO personnel.
In support of the Chief PNP’s program focused on basics of policing, strengthening police visibility and patrolling to promote crime deterrence and develop strong police-community relations, Pagdilao ordered the Regional Plans and Training Division (RPTD) chief, Sr. Supt. Rommil M. Mitra to further develop and adopt training and curriculum that is responsive to the Chief PNP’s directives.
“If the police would like to gain the support, trust and respect of the community, we should value and respect their human rights… we should serve with gratitude, respect and respond to them in a fair and honest manner with no discrimination on their race, gender, religion and social status,” Pagdilao said.
He emphasized that police officers should be advocates of human rights and gave stern warning that misuse of authority will be immediately sanctioned.
He encouraged all police officers to strengthen the already established PNP Human Rights Desks at their Police Districts.
He assured that human rights violations and other human rights concerns will be handled with urgency but with due process. (PNA)
