Yuchengco Museum presents lecture on understanding art insurance

Posted on August 10, 2015

By Lily O. Ramos

MANILA, Aug. 10 (PNA)– Precious art and jewelry or cultural collections around the word sometimes get victimized by sophisticated thefts, which means museums and art institutions must protect their valuable assets and must insure them for safety and payment just in case they get stolen.

Whether it is one painting in the living room or a large collection of antiques and collectibles, many owners of artwork and other priceless objects do not realize that they can benefit from special insurance coverage.

People insure their health, their car, and their household, but often are not advised on how to especially protect their precious, irreplaceable art collections.

To protect Philippine art collections, a special lecture on Understanding Art Insurance will be given on Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Yuchengco Museum along Ayala Ave. in Makati City.

The discussion is open not only to budding and serious art collectors, but also to museums, art galleries, art dealers, auction houses, and institutions that have works of art.

Representatives from leading insurers in Hong Kong and the Philippines will explain the fundamentals of insuring art, and share situations in the Philippines and abroad.

Willis Hong Kong and Malayan Insurance speakers will teach people how to insure their art or collection from risks such as theft, damage, and disasters.

Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. is the leading non-life insurance company in the Philippines.

Founded in 1930, Malayan offers its client and the public guaranteed peace of mind through service excellence, quality insurance protection, and the prompt processing and settlement of just and valid claims.

The talk comes with an entrance fee of PhP 100 for adults, PhP 50 for students, PhP 25 for children and seniors. (PNA)
