MANILA, Aug. 9 (PNA) — The United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, will visit the Philippines for the celebration of the 3rd International Youth Day Forum on Aug. 12, it was announced by the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) in Manila.
This year’s theme is “Youth Civic Engagement.”
International Youth Day is meant to serve as an annual celebration of the role of young men and women as essential partners in change, as well as an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.
While in Manila, Alhendawi will meet with government officials in an open forum regarding their respective youth policies, and receive, and respond to a report on the Demographic Dividend in the Philippines researched by faculty from the University of the Philippines School of Statistics.
He will also meet with youth advocates from civil society organizations representing marginalized sectors to listen to their experiences of youth policies and exchange ideas on the development needs and rights of Filipino young people today. (PNA)
