MANILA, Aug. 9 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Sunday it continues to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) in assisting families affected by floods caused by “hangin habagat” enhanced by typhoon “Hanna.”
According to the DSWD, typhoon “Hannah” (international name: Soudelor), which is already out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), has affected at least 551 families equivalent to 2,367 persons due to floods brought about by the southwest monsoon’s intermittent rains.
The affected persons are staying in two evacuation centers in Bukidnon and North Cotabato.
DSWD Field Offices (FOs) and the National Relief Operation Center (NROC) were earlier alerted to assist and coordinate with LGUs in the areas that might be affected by the weather disturbance.
The agency’s FOs and NROC prepared PhP 56.48 million standby fund, 376,823 food packs and PhP 280.99 million worth of food and non-food items in anticipation of the assistance needed in vulnerable areas. (PNA)
