Infrastructure, health, tourism highlights Misamis Oriental ‘SOPA 2015’

Posted on August 9, 2015

MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Aug. 9 (PNA) – Provincial Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano of Misamis Oriental would focus on the province economy, health, infrastructures, and tourism as highlights of his scheduled State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Monday.

In a statement released to the local media on Sunday, Emano boosts of Php 144 million completed infrastructure projects, one third of the amount, involved in the construction of Php 103 million of provincial and farm-to-market roads.

He said that the province acquired 27 new equipment that included two units of bulldozers; ten units of dump trucks; six units of graders; two units each of motor graders, compactors and backhoe, and one unit each of boom trucks, prime mover and low bed trailer to carry out the infrastructure projects.

Emano also disclosed that the revenue of the province economic enterprise units such as provincial hospitals, rented province-owned buildings, public markets, and real estate taxes have significantly improved.

“The provincial hospitals that have been constantly at the losing end have earned almost 200 per cent from a measly Php 100 million in 2013,” Emano said.

He said that more patients are patronizing the province-owned hospitals because of the acquisition of modern medical equipment and the availability of medicines in hospital pharmacy.

The governor also specially mentioned the “MisOr CareS,” an innovative point-of-care health program of the provincial government that has already extended about 400,000 patients since its implementation a year ago.

The local tourism industry in Misamis Oriental is now also moving up as the province embarks on developing tourism potentials, Emano said.

The provincial government has invited national and regional senior executives along with stakeholders and the media to attend the SOPA 2015 at the provincial capitol ground on Monday, the statement said. (PNA)
