MANILA, Aug. 9 (PNA) — Twenty-three persons were injured in a three vehicle smash-up along East Avenue in Quezon City on Sunday.
PO3 Perlito Datu, investigator of the Quezon City Police District-District Traffic Enforcement Unit (QCPD-DTEU) Traffic Sector 3, said the incident took place along East Avenue, before entering EDSA, at around 11 a.m. where the three vehicles came from the Elliptical Road.
Datu said the injured passengers were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) for medical treatment.
Datu said initial investigation showed that it was the Nova bus (TWR-949) steered by Nelson Nasader that crashed into the Worthy bus (AEL-984) driven by Renato Sumatra behind.
Due to the impact, the Worthy bus slammed into the Dianadal Taxi (UWD-494) driven by Cesar Diaz that was in front of it.
As a result of the collision, Datu said the vehicles incurred heavy damages on its point of contact, while several passengers were hurt.
He said most of the injured passengers suffered from scratches and bruises.
He noted that none of the drivers seemed drunk at the time of the incident as the QCPD-DTEU Traffic Sector 3 is still investigating the incident. (PNA)
