MANILA, Aug. 8 (PNA) –Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted Saturday that Metro Manila will still experience moderate rains in the next four days though southwest monsoon, or ‘habagat,’ eases as typhoon ‘Hanna’ moves away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
“We therefore expect lessening rain in Metro Manila towards the middle of next week,” said weather forecaster Gladys Saludes.
In its outlook released Saturday, PAGASA forecast Metro Manila to experience monsoon rains on Sunday (Aug. 9) as ‘Hanna’ still enhances ‘habagat’ while heading northwestwards to China.
“Metro Manila can have moderate rains of 2.4 millimeters to 7.5 millimeters on Sunday,” she said.
PAGASA’s outlook shows precipitation in Metro Manila will likely ease beginning Monday (Aug. 10) with occasional rain until Tuesday (Aug. 11).
PAGASA expects Metro Manila to have partly cloudy to at times cloudy conditions with rain showers and/or thunderstorms on Wednesday.
In its 6 a.m. severe weather bulletin released Saturday, PAGASA located ‘Hanna’ at 380 kilometers north of Batanes province’s Itbayat municipality as of 4 a.m. of the same day.
‘Hanna’ packed maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers near its center and gustiness of up to 210 kilometers per hour, said PAGASA.
Saludes said latest available data show ‘Hanna’ already made landfall in Taiwan on Saturday morning.
“The data further indicate ‘Hanna’ will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) also on Saturday between 12 noon and 2 p.m.,” she said.
PAR covers the Philippines and Taiwan.
PAGASA expects ‘Hanna’ to be outside PAR at 690 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat on Sunday morning.(PNA)
