MANILA, August 5 (PNA) – German-firm Conergy on Wednesday said it will build the 50-megawatt (MW) Tarlac Solar Power Project (TSPP) for PetroSolar Corp., a subsidiary of PetroGreen Energy Corp.
”Conergy, a leading German photovoltaic (PV) solution and service provider, has recently been awarded a new contract by PetroSolar Corporation (PetroSolar) to build a solar power plant for the Tarlac Solar Power Project (TSPP) in Tarlac City, Tarlac, which will have a total installed capacity of 50 megawatts (MWp),” Conergy said in a statement.
Conergy expects to complete the project construction by the first quarter of 2016, with its local partner Phesco Inc.
The company stressed the site of TSPP, has no trees or mountains near it that could block solar access.
Conergy said Tarlac, having a flat terrain, has favorable conditions for photovoltaic (PV) development.
Conergy said the TSPP would generate a capacity of 78,070 MW hours (MWh) per year and provide clean energy to about 31,700 households.
TSPP was estimated to further save more than 47,800 tons of carbons each year.
Conergy Asia and Middle East president Alexander Lenz said their firm looked forward to working with PetroSolar to bring the TSPP online, adding he hoped the project would deliver a similar success to its past projects.
Milagros Reyes, PetroSolar president, said the firm hoped the TSPP would be granted PhP 8.69 Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) allowance as it geared to complete the project on time.
The German firm said the project was its second solar farm in Luzon, preceded by its 10-MW solar farm in Raslag, Pampanga.
For Visayas, Conergy currently has 63 MW of installed capacity in San Carlos and La Carlota in Negros Occidental.
However, the solar downstream company did not disclose projects in Mindanao.
