DTI nurtures agrarian reform communities in Nueva Vizcaya

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Aug 5 (PNA) — Five Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) in Nueva Vizcaya have benefited from the recently conducted Basic and Upgrading skills training provided by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 02, through the initiative of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (DTI-CARP).

DTI-02 Information officer Manilyn Ponce, said a total of 75 participants from the following ARCs benefited from the skills training. These are the Villaverde Multipurpose Cooperative (Villaverde Cluster ARC) on the upgrading skills training on banana chips making, Darapidap Auto Savings Group (DABECO ARC) on the basic skills training on tamarind wine making, Future life and Livelihood Association (FERMADA ARC) on the basic skills training on steamed rice cake making, Samahang Magsasaka ng Wacal, Inc., (Uddiawan ARC) on the upgrading skills training on bignay wine, and Bangaan Rural Workers Association (Uddiawan ARC) on the upgrading skills training on tamarind wine making. All were conducted in Nueva Vizcaya.

The five ARCs contributed Php390,981 or 45.46 % of the total sales generated by all Nueva Vizcaya ARCs amounting to Php859,978.

Breakdown of sales generated by the five ARCs were as follows: Bangaan Rural Workers Association Php77,386; Samahang Magsasaka ng Wacal, Inc. Php31,112; Villaverde Multipurpose Cooperative Php210,431; Future life and Livelihood Association Php39,872; and Darapidap Auto Savings Group Php32,180 with 19 jobs generated.

Villaverde Multipurpose Cooperative Manager, Mr. Federico C. Mendoza lauded DTI for their continuous efforts in helping ARCs and striving SMEs further improve their way of life.

The conduct of the skills training was jointly organized by the Department of Trade and Industry–Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (DTI-CARP) and the cooperatives/associations in coordination with local government units. (PNA)
