Bigcas wants vehicles seized by Customs returned

Posted on August 4, 2015

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug. 4 (PNA) – Allan Lynnard Bigcas, the controversial Fi-Am businessman, accused of alleged car smuggling in 2011 here, now wants his vehicles returned.

Bigcas, through his lawyer, appeared in the Court of Appeals in Cagayan De Oro City on Tuesday to hear his motion with the CA declaring the writ of seizure order by the Bureau of Customs null and void.

A lawyer from the Solicitor General in Manila, representing the government stood as the lawyer of the Bureau of Customs.

Bigcas said he wanted the vehicles and motorcycles worth Php 18 million, which the Bureau of Customs impounded in 2011 for failure of Bigcas to pay for the customs tariff, be returned to him.

The local customs bureau through the writ of seizure order, impounded Bigcas vehicles that include expensive sports cars and the “Martin Brothers” big bike allegedly owned by Hollywood writer Skip Woods here.

In 2011, the US FBI confirmed that 11 of the 29 seized vehicles were stolen from the US and shipped to the Philippines through the International Container Port in Tagolo-an, Misamis Oriental.

Bigcas, however, said that he bought the vehicles and transported the same through his cargo firm based in Texas, USA.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Bigcas lawyer presented documents that the vehicles belonged to Bigcas. The CA has reset the hearing on Thursday. (PNA)
