Jinggoy says: Roxas is highly qualified to run for president

Posted on August 3, 2015

By Sammy F. Martin

MANILA, Aug. 3 (PNA) — Detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada said on Monday Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas is highly qualified to run for president when asked for his opinion after attending his bail hearing at the Sandiganbayan 5th Division for his plunder case.

He, however, clarified that their family has not thrown their support behind anyone yet and waiting for the final filing of certificate of candidacy in October.

“I do not want to preempt President Estrada,” Jinggoy said, referring to his father, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.

The younger Estrada said Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Grace Poe and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte are also qualified candidates for the 2016 presidential elections.

Roxas served as Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) secretary during the Estrada administration in 1998.

Jinggoy admitted that once Senator Grace Poe decided to throw her hat into the ring, they might have second thoughts on who to support, saying both Poe and Vice President Binay are closed to their heart.

During the continuation of Jinggoy’s bail hearing, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) special investigator Dario Sabinalo was presented by the prosecution as an expert on cybercrime.

He narrated his numerous trainings in the United States with software companies since he started working at the NBI in 2003.

The prosecution panel offered his testimony on the files of whistle-blower Benhur Luy which it claimed were created on the dates indicated and have not been modified.

Due to lack of time, the hearing will continue on Tuesday. (PNA)
