February 6, 2007, MAKATI CITY — Western Union has extended its loyalty rewards program to receivers of money transfers. By registering for the Western Union Gold CardSM, Filipinos who receive money transfers through Western Union will also enjoy benefits that include discounts at popular retail and services outlets. Previously, only customers sending money transfers through Western Union were eligible for the Western Union Gold Card (not a credit card) and rewards program.

During a press launch held recently at the Intercon Hotel, Western Union executives introduced the expanded Gold Card loyalty program to the media. Themed “Giving our customers more reasons to celebrate,” Western Union created a festive venue to launch the additional advantages of being a Gold Card holder.

The Western Union Gold Card loyalty program introduces customers to a world of privileges, with two tiers of rewards – basic and premium benefits. Customers get exclusive access to benefits such as discounts at Western Union’s co-promotion establishments. Just by showing their Western Union Gold Card, customers can enjoy the following rewards:

  • 7% discount from any Air Philippines published fares for website or textsite bookings;
  • Free gift for minimum purchase of P125 made at HBC;
  • 15% discount for facial and hair services at David’s Salon;
  • $5.00 discount on fees for all international outbound transactions (except for Jumbo Box, Jumbo Jr. and Express Pallet) made through DHL; and
  • 5% discount for Goldilocks greeting cakes.

In addition, Western Union Gold Card holders who show their cards when sending or receiving money through Western Union will be eligible for premium tier reward coupons. The more transactions made through Western Union, the more exciting the benefits that await customers. In addition, premium tier rewards will be updated on a regular basis.

From now until March 31, 2007, Gold Card customers making a transaction through Western Union will receive discount coupons for use in the following co-promotion establishments: Max’s Restaurant, Goldilocks, WOW Magic Sing and Leonardo.

It is easy to get a Western Union Gold Card — customers can go to any Western Union Agent location and fill out a registration form. The card is available free of charge, with no joining or annual fees.

Currently, the Western Union Gold Card is available in the following countries: Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States and some European countries.

A global leader in money transfer services, customers trust Western Union for its speed of delivery — money is available for collection just minutes1 after it is sent; reliability — Western Union has been in the money transfer business for over 130 years, and has been in business in the Philippines for 19 years; and convenience — it has one of the widest networks in the Philippines with over 6,000 locations nationwide.

Western Union locations belong to different classes of trade including banks, pawnshops, malls and telephone centers, so customers can send or receive money beyond normal banking hours and even during weekends.

For more details, customers can call the following numbers: 888-1200 within Metro Manila, 1-800-1-888-1200 toll free via PLDT, 1-800-9-888-1200 toll free via Globelines to check the status of their funds from abroad or find the address of the nearest Western Union location.
