MANILA, Aug 1 (PNA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT), through its attached agency, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA,) has committed Php60-million for the development of a park in Tagbilaran, Bohol.
TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid said that the agency is targeting the start of the Friendship Park at the Sandugo Shrine in Brgy. Bool, Tagbilaran City. The park is expected to boost tourism in the region.
The Bohol Friendship Park is expected to commemorate the Sandugo Friendship — the commemoration of the 1656 blood compact between Boholano chieftain Datu Sikatuna and Spanish General Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.
It is envisioned to have endemic trees, a botanical garden and will also feature the Bool Tree, where Bohol got its name. It will also have three history galleries connecting to amphitheater.

TIEZA said that the park would be built considering environment impacts. Only wooden boardwalks would be used and no reclamation
At present, TIEZA is in the process of bidding the project which is targeted for completion within the year. (PNA)
