POPCOM-2 throws a birthday bash for six 100 millionth babies in Region 2

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Aug 1 (PNA) — The Commission on Population Regional Office 2 (POPCOM-02) on Saturday led the celebration of the first birthday of six 100 millionth babies representing the five provinces and a city of Region 2.

The celebration was held in SM Cauayan City where POPCOM-2 was expected to throw a party for the six babies who, according POPCOM-02 Regional Director Angelito Obcena “symbolize hope and challenge making their birth a call to ensure that every Filipino is counted in government’s efforts toward a healthy, productive and livable environment”.

In his statement, Obcena said, the babies, with their parents would be the actors in the grand celebration scheduled at 10 a.m.

The 100 millionth babies representing each province or region 2 are: Kendra Dominique Cobaria of Kayuganan, Uyugan, Batanes; Mierre Zyrille Joy Tuliao of Camasi, Peñablanca, Cagayan; JC de Mesa Zipagan of Catabayungan, Cabagan,Isabela; Jarley Maligsa Ang of Tuao North, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya; Alijah Pajota Racpan of Saguday, Quirino; and Darren Macatbag Cariño of Tagaran, Cauayan City.

Apart from serving as reminder for Filipinos that Philippine population has reached 100 million, Obcena also said, “the birth of the babies serve as a call for everyone to make every child wanted and provided of his/her basic needs like health, education and other development concerns”.

Obcena also added they have prepared gift packs for the babies to be given during the program. Each pack worth P5,000 will be given to the babies. A pack contains vitamins, nutritional materials, toys, and other essential baby needs. (PNA)
