DUMAGUETE CITY, July 31 (PNA) — Barangay officials may also be granted the Productivity Enhancement Incentives (PEI) as mandated by Executive Order (EO) 181 of the president, provided it is within the personnel services limitation of concerned barangay.
The clarification was issued by the Organization, Position, Classification, and Compensation Bureau (OPCCB) of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) following queries sent by barangay officials all over the country, including the letter request of Dumaguete City Councilor Lionel Banogon, president of the Liga Ng Mga Barangays in the city.
Banogon received the communication from National Barangay Operations Office of DBM on July 28, 2015, through OIC director Leocado Trovela and immediately sent copies to all the 30 barangays of Dumaguete.
The other conditions include four months service requirement for officials and employees of the barangay under Section 6 of EO 181 and all other applicable provisions of the executive order.
Dir. Myrna S. Chua, assistant secretary and concurrent director of OPCCB clarified that since the barangays are not covered by the Seal of Good Local Governance, compliance therewith is not required.
She said the PEI shall be equivalent to one-month honoraria received by the incumbent.
The Liga president and ex-officio member of the city council disclosed this is good news for barangays whose PS limitation is still within the range but bad news for barangays who have exceeded the limitation.
Banogon is hoping that barangay officials will also be receiving the PEI when possible. (PNA)
