One classroom building project increases enrollment of school in Janiuay, Iloilo

Posted on July 28, 2015

ILOILO CITY, July 28 (PNA) –- The one-classroom building project in Tambal Elementary School in Janiuay, Iloilo has increased the number of enrollees in the school.

The classroom was a project of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-National Community-Driven Development Program (KALAHI CIDSS-NCDDP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 6.

The classroom was constructed and first utilized in 2011.

According to Dr. Patira Concepcion M. Jacintos, Head Teacher III of Tambal Elementary School, since the classroom was built, the enrollment of Grade 1 pupils who are using the classroom has been increasing annually.

“The classroom is very conducive, the pupils are not crowded in the classroom”, Jacintos said.

In 2010, Jacintos said that the grade one pupils were only 13 but this 2015, there are already 26 pupils.

Jacintos also said that the classroom has also enhanced the interest of the pupils to attend their classes. Since the last three years, there are zero dropouts of pupils in the said school.

“They are more eager to learn and cooperate because they feel comfortable inside the classroom,” Jacintos said.

Currently, there are 190 students enrolled in the school, around 40 percent of whom are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of DSWD.

“The quality of education given to the pupils has also improved”, Jacintos further said.

The classroom was one of the projects of KALAHI CIDSS- NCDDP in Barangay Tambal in Janiuay, Iloilo. Other projects are a health center, day care center and disaster equipment. (PNA)
