ILOILO CITY, July 27 (PNA) -– Department of Education (DepEd)-Region 6 information officer Leah Belleza said teachers are hoping President Benigno Aquino III will include their salary increase in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) Monday.
Mr. Aquino will deliver his last SONA this afternoon, July 27.
“Teachers are expecting Aquino to say that there will be salary increase for teachers,” Belleza said.
She said that since the administration of President Aquino started, there have been a lot of developments in education in Western Visayas.
Specifically, Belleza said that there were so many constructed classrooms, hired teachers and additional school materials given to the schools.
“Even the budget for the K to 12 program is all set,” Belleza added.
However, she made it clear that those classes in both public elementary and high schools in the whole Western Visayas are not suspended for the SONA.
School heads and teachers are expected to allow their students to watch the SONA but only in the school premises. (PNA)
