MANILA, July 25 (PNA) — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck the province of Northern Samar and was felt also in the province of Sorsogon on Saturday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs).
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 4:41 p.m. with its epicenter traced 55 kilometers northeast of Catarman in Northern Samar.
Phivolcs added that tremor was felt at Intensity 1 in Casiguran, Sorsogon and Cabid-an, Sorsogon.
The agency noted that the quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Philvocs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the temblor but aftershocks are expected.
Meanwhile, around 5:01 p.m., a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the tremor was traced 24 kilometers southeast of General Luna in Surigao del Norte
The agency said the quake had a shallow depth of five kilometers.
Phivolcs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the temblor and no aftershocks were expected from it. (PNA)
