DOH MIMAROPA turns over Php 1.5 worth of medicines to Marinduque provincial hospital

Posted on July 24, 2015

MANILA, July 24 (PNA)–The Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA said Friday that it recently turned over a total of 1.5 million worth of assorted supply of medicines to Damian Reyes Provincial Hospital in Boac, Marinduque.

MIMAROPA refers to island provinces consisting of Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.

According to DOH Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo, the medicines were part of the “coaching and mentoring” project development program for the provincial hospital as a form of investment to it.

The hospital was placed under the management and supervision of the DOH regional office as requested by Governor Carmencita O. Reyes.

The turnover of medicines was made in the presence of Governor Carmencita O. Reyes who accepted the medicine for the use of the constituents.

Reyes acknowledged the importance of the donation.

“This is the first time ever that the province have received large amount of medicines from the health department. With these medicines in place, our patients can now avail of affordable, quality and proper medications for treatment,” Reyes added.

Janairo said that under the program, the medicines should be given in kind and to be used as the hospital’s capital investment.

Janairo also said that the medicines were expected to return as “profit” through the Philhealth (Philippine Health Insurance Corporation) as payments from patients who will be availing them.

He also said that under the program, DOH-MIMAROPA would have a bigger responsibility in the administration of the hospital by deploying technical staff in the province to provide the necessary improvements in the organization and development of the hospital in order to bring the investment back to the province.

Janairo added that in addition to that hospital’s support, technical and medical group would be trained and undergo skills enhancement program to keep them up to date.

“Once the system is sustainable, we can even provide more medicines to the province which can be distributed and used by the two other health facilities which is the Sta. Cruz District Hospital and the Torrijos Municipal Hospital and eventually even the RHUs will be included in the investment title,” the Regional Director added

The turnover ceremony took place on July 21 (Tuesday).(PNA)
