MANILA, July 22 (PNA) — The state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) sealed a Php1-billion solar farm deal for the country’s first smart and well-planned urban development, the Clark Green City in Central Luzon.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Arnel Paciano D. Casanova said on Wednesday that SSR C-Solar Power Inc., one of the leading renewable energy groups in Asia, signed a 25-year lease agreement with the BCDA for the development of solar farm inside the Clark Green City.
Under the agreement, the BCDA is leasing a 25-hectare parcel of land in Clark Green City for SSR C-Solar to develop its solar-photovoltaic power generation and operations.
The company’s solar panels to be installed in the leased property will have an output of 20 megawatts which can supply electricity to at least 10,000 households.
It would make Clark Green City to have the second largest solar farm in the country next to the 50-MW solar farm in Calatagan, Batangas.
SSR C-Solar will start the construction of the project by fourth quarter this year.
“We want to create a Green City that is unique using solar power as an alternative source of energy. This partnership will be nurtured over the years. Together, we will move forward with critical infrastructure that could define the identity of the modern, and sustainable city for our country,” Casanova said.
“We are in this business because of conviction. We are committed to play a major role in building out the Philippines’ clean energy infrastructure,” SSR Group Chief Executive Officer Assaad Razzouk said on the other hand.
Aside from the 20-MW solar farm project of SSR C-Solar, a potential 100-MW solar energy project is seen to invest in Clark Green City. (PNA)
