CEBU CITY, July 21 (PNA) — Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has confirmed the approval by the Department of Budget Management (DBM) Central Office of a PHP1.5-billion budget for Cebu provincial roads.
Davide said he discussed the matter with DBM officials during a visit to the DBM office in Manila last week.
Davide was in Manila to accept an award from the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) which ranked Cebu as the third most competitive province nationwide.
The NCC also ranked Cebu City as the third most competitive highly-urbanized city in the country.
Davide said said he also received a text message from Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson, saying the PHP1.5-billion budget will be given by the DBM to the DPWH 7.
DPWH 7 Director Ador Canlas said their office has yet to receive an official report on the matter.
Davide said they had earlier asked for funding support for provincial roads that lead to tourism projects in the province.
The official list of infrastructure projects funded by the province from 2014-15 showed an allocation of PHP206 million for the construction and development of roads in the province. (PNA)
