MANILA, July 20 (PNA) — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now considering to place the witness in the alleged rubout incident in Manila under the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
The witness allegedly saw the shooting incident in Sampaloc, Maynila where the suspected holdupper Robin Villarosa was killed.
According to Atty. Vicente De Guzman, Chief-of-Staff of the NBI-Investigation Service Division, they are planning to place the witness under the coverage of the WPP in order to provide him sufficient protection.
In a press conference, the witness admitted that he was fearing for his safety, hence, he was forced to tell everything he knew about the incident.
De Guzman said that the NBI is also giving security to another witness who is of minor age.
On the part of the Philippine national Police (PNP), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Officer-in-Charge Chief Supt. Allen Bantolo said that the surfacing of the witness is a welcome development for them because it will strengthen the case earlier filed against five police who are members of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 4.
For his part, MPD Director Rolando Nana said that they will submit the sworn statement of the witness before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office (MPO) to be used as basis in the resolution of the case of murder filed against the following:
— Gulod Police Community Precinct (PCP) commander Senior Inspector Rommel Salazar;
— PO3 Ferdinand Valera;
— PO1 Ronald Dipacina;
— PO1 Rhoel Landrito; and
— PO1 Diomar Landoy. (PNA)
