LAOAG CITY, July 16 (PNA)- The Ilocos Norte Water District (INWD) announced Wednesday they are now back to normal operation except for at least four villages in Laoag, which are still on rotational schedule due to low water pressure.
For Santa Maria and Suyo villages, General Manager John Teodoro of INWD said that concessionaires here have supply but still running on low pressure while La Paz and Talingaan villages take turns from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.
“We are happy to announce that our operation is back to normal. We hope that as soon as our second pump well will be completed on the third week of September, we will be able to supply 24/7,” said John Teodoro, General Manager of INWD.
During the summer months of April to May, Laoag residents encountered problems on water outage and low water pressure, which are widely experienced all throughout the country because of the so-called El Nińo phenomenon.
According to Teodoro, the third well, which they hope to construct on the first week of November, is now up for bidding. Once completed, he said that they would be able to accommodate new connections by the end of the year.
Though there are still isolated cases of turbidity, the INWD manager explained this is normal because of scouring and sediments accumulation during the prolonged dry spell. He also noted that water pressure is quite improving as they were able to repair at least 68 leakages in INWD pipes during the onset of the rainy season.(PNA)
