CIDG neutralizes 7 criminals, arrests 38 others in Davao City

Posted on July 15, 2015

By Christopher Lloyd T. Caliwan

MANILA, July 15 (PNA) — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) killed seven criminals, nabbed 38 other criminal elements, and raided 30 lairs of suspected syndicates and gangs in Davao City on Wednesday.

This was revealed by CIDG head Director Benjamin Magalong who described the operation as one of thebiggest simultaneous crackdown on criminals in the area.

“We have consolidated our forces in Eastern Mindanao for this operation. We were also assisted by various police units,” Magalong said, adding that the operations also resulted in the confiscation of 324 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), 13 assorted firearms and three hand grenades.

After confirming intelligence reports on the locations of suspected criminals in City, Magalong said they immediately sought for search warrants from the local court for the operation.

A total of 35 search warrants were issued by a local court, focusing on various areas suspected to be drug dens, hideouts of suspected robbers and carnappers and even gun smugglers.

Magalong said that around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday his men started raiding the hideouts, with some policemen serving as backups especially in sealing off the escape routes.

During the raid, the CIDG Chief said that a total of seven people were killed in the simultaneous raids while 38 others were arrested.

Among those arrested and killed, according to Magalong, are members of four notorious criminal syndicates operating in Southern Mindnao. (PNA)
