DAGUPAN CITY, July 14 (PNA)–Classes in all pre-school, elementary and high school in both public and private institutions in Dagupan are suspended on Wednesday, June 15, on order of Mayor Belen Fernandez.
The mayor made the move due to the continuing inclement weather brought about by monsoon rains which already flooded some low-lying areas of the city, that would pose danger to pupils and students going to and from their schools.
Private colleges and universities in the city are, however, given the discretion to determine if they too would declare the suspension of classes given the situation obtaining in the city.
Despite the rains, however, all roads in the city remain passable, according to the Dagupan police.
Monsoon rains started in Pangasinan last July 3 and is still continuing, which elated farmers as they finally were able to plant rice.
But much rains caused water level of rivers to rise, threatening flood in some areas. (PNA)
