ABS-CBN is set to continue with its winning streak after getting three nominations from the prestigious 14th Asian TV Awards.
The station’s late night newscast “Bandila” is a finalist in the Best News Program category for its “EDSA Shootout” coverage; docu-drama “I Survived” is running for Best Current Affairs program; while “Pilipinas, Game KNB?” is up for the Best Game or Quiz Program trophy.
“Bandila,” anchored by Henry Omaga-Diaz, Ces Oreña Drilon, and Korina Sanchez, has already been cited by prominent award giving bodies like the International Emmy Awards, KBP Golden Dove Awards, and Star Awards for TV for its ground-breaking coverage of important news events like the shootout in EDSA, which involved civilians who were caught in the crossfire.
“I Survived,” meanwhile, is just fresh from being awarded the Best Reality Show at the 1st MTRCB awards. The Ces Oreña Drilon-anchored docu-drama is targeting its second trophy in just nine months on air with an entry on a Filipina comfort woman’s ordeal during the Japanese occupation.
“Pilipinas, Game KNB?,” on the other hand, is a consistent Star TV Awards and Anak TV Seal winner. Recently, the game show’s host, Edu Manzano was also awarded Best Male Host during the MTRCB awards.
The Asian TV Awards is regarded as the Asian television industry’s most significant and prestigious event. On its 14th year, it aims to continue to recognize talent, spur industry progress, and build up the regional media. The awarding ceremonies will be on December 3 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.
