MANILA, July 13 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Monday the number of evacuation centers still providing temporary assistance to families affected by the “hanging habagat” or southwest monsoon has now gone down to six in four provinces.
More than 30 evacuation centers were opened in affected provinces at the height of the “habagat” enhanced by the successive storm “Egay” and typhoon “Falcon” last week.
According to DSWD Secretary Corazon J. Soliman, the six evacuation centers are situated in Bataan, Bulacan, Zambales and Batangas.
A total of 43 families equivalent to 166 persons are assisted in the evacuation centers jointly managed by local government units (LGUs) and DSWD.
A total of 28,317 families or 139,613 persons in 153 barangays were affected by flash floods due to inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon.
About PhP3,3347,378 worth of assistance was provided by the DSWD to the affected families. (PNA)
