Ilocano youth orgs encouraged to join TAYO search

Posted on July 10, 2015

LAOAG CITY, July 10 (PNA) — The Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards Foundation Inc., a non-government organization, is reaching out to Ilocano youth organizations in the province to participate in the 13th search for the country’s TAYO awards.

James de Vera of the TAYO foundation along with his group is in Laoag City on Friday as his group paid a courtesy call to the Office of Senior Board Member Ria Christina Farińas at the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol.

This afternoon, De Vera and party will also be having an event with students of the Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City to encourage youth groups here to share their achievements and let others be inspired by their extraordinary projects and programs for the local community.

Co-organized by the Office of Senator Bam Aquino and the National Youth Commission along with other private companies and schools nationwide, TAYO is an annual search program which recognizes the best and most accomplished youth groups and organizations in the country.

“We reward and we recognize youth organizations around the country, which have been doing projects that have impacted the community for 13 years now. This year, we are introducing new changes in the search process,” said de Vera.

“This time, we are encouraging youth groups around the country to join the search as long their organization is composed of at least five members who are 30 years old and below and their projects should fall under five categories which include the following: Education and technology; health, nutrition and well-being; environment, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation; livelihood and entrepreneurship; and culture and the arts, peace and human development.

While encouraging youth groups in the Ilocos region to let their stories be heard by joining the search, de Vera said as he reported at least 15 applicants have already submitted their entries and they expect to receive more before the September 2015 deadline.

Aside from a trophy to be awarded at the Malacanang Palace, winning organizations shall also receive Php 50,000 and Php 25,000 for other organizations that make it to the national finals.

For inquiries, interested parties may visit www.tayoawards.net for application forms or contact the TAYO secretariat at 0917 TXT-TAYO (898-8296) or e-mail at tayo.secretariat@gmail.com.(PNA)
