MANILA, July 10 (PNA) — Inclement weather caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) has so far stranded 278 seagoing passengers in various parts of the country.
This was according to the Coast Guard in its 4 a.m. update Friday.
This is up by three than the 275 reported Thursday night.
Prevented from leaving port due to the stormy weather were 41 ships and 38 motorbancas.
Seven vessels were forced to take shelter in Batangas due to the bad weather conditions.
Passengers stranded are 160 for Cebu, 10 for Dumaguete, 10 for Aparri, 50 for Masbate, 14 for Camarines Sur and 34 for Sorsogon.
Vessels immobilized are 23 for Cebu, five for Tagbiliran, eight for Dumaguete, one each for Mindoro, Masbate, Romblon and two for Sorsogon.
Motorbancas prevented from leaving port are 11 for Cebu, 12 for Dumaguete, two for Occidental Mindoro, 11 for Aparri, one for Masbate, and one for Romblon. (PNA)
