MANILA, July 10 (PNA) — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) lifted before Friday noon the heavy rainfall warning it earlier issued over Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
“Light to moderate rains were observed over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan for the past one hour. With this development, all heavy rainfall warnings over these areas are now terminated,” PAGASA said in its latest advisory issued at 11 a.m.
It added that light to moderate rains affecting Bulacan, Zambales, Batangas, Quezon, Pampanga, Tarlac and Bataan may persist for one to two hours.
Meanwhile, PAGASA also said that the southwest monsoon or “Habagat” is expected to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), while occasional rains are expected over Western and Central Visayas and the rest of Luzon.
Residents in these areas are advised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides, the state weather bureau said. (PNA)
