DAVAO CITY, July 9 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office here has started data encoding of preliminary results of the ongoing Listahanan Survey being undertaken throughout Davao Region.
“We have hired over 200 workers to encode the filled out Family Assessment Form (FAF) administered by our enumerators. The encoded data will then be subjected to a proxy means test (PMT) which calculates the family’s approximate income using 52 proxy socio-economic variables that predict household income and allow for objective ranking, classification, and prioritization of families,” DSWD-11 Regional Director Priscilla N. Razon said.
To fast track the process, we have mobilized some of our regional staffs to assist in data encoding, Razon added. She disclosed that the data being generated include family size, educational attainment, access to health center, toilet facilities, electricity, water source, roof materials, as well as prevalence of displacement, disability, senior citizens and solo parents.
Managed by DSWD, Listahanan or Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan is a database of poor households and used as reference in identifying beneficiaries of social protection services.
It is a functional, objective and transparent targeting system that identifies who and where the poor are, thus reducing leakage of social services to non-poor and minimizing exclusion of the poor from said social services.
Listahanan helps government properly allocate and equitably distribute its limited resources to proper beneficiaries.
Undertaken all over the country, the 2nd Listahanan Survey saturates rural barangays and covers pockets of poverty in urban barangays.
Mae P. Valentin, Listahanan Regional Field Coordinator said with 2,354 enumerators, DSWD-11 will cover 793,770 households and to date, a total of 429,797 families have already been interviewed.
“The list of poor households will be posted in municipalities/barangays for validation purposes. Queries and complaints received on the accuracy or veracity of the list will be verified by the Local Validation Committee (LVC),” Valentin added.
