ILOILO CITY, July 9 (PNA) – The Iloilo Provincial Capitol employees will receive their half-month salary this July as their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI).The supplemental budget for the PEI has already been approved last July 7.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said that he has already approved the order to give PEI to the employees but only one-half of their monthly salary will be released while the other half will be released in December.
Defensor said that if the employees get their whole one month salary incentive this July, they would no longer have money to use during Christmas season in December.
Following the executive order, Defensor said the employees would only receive one month salary incentive, regardless of their salary grade. Employees will no longer receive Php35, 000 PEI like last year.
Last June 30, in an interview, Defensor said that low-salaried employees would be affected since PEI depends on their monthly salary. Employees who receive low salary will also receive low PEI.
Defensor said that he preferred to give equal PEI to all employees no matter what position they hold in the office but he said that he needed to follow the order of the national government.
Defensor is recommending the employees to practice self-denial through prioritizing important things that they can afford. (PNA)
