MANILA, July 9 (PNA) — As the southwest monsoon continues to intensify due to Typhoon Falcon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is reminding the public to be alert on possible flashfloods over the western section of the Pampanga River Basin (PRB).
Watercourses that are likely to be affected include Rio Chico River in Nueva Ecija, Abacan River, Pasig-Potrero River, Porac-Gumain River, and other streams and creeks within the sub-basin of Pasac-Guagua Allied Rivers in Pampanga.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) measured 25mm rainfall in the past 24 hours and forecast light to occasionally moderate rains in the next 24 hours.
NDRRMC directed the residents and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) adjacent or along the waterways to undertake precautionary measures and appropriate actions in their areas of jurisdiction.
Moreover, NDRRMC specified the need for information dissemination through local and community leaders, local media including community radio stations, and regular press briefings to complement and reinforce local efforts with the national level. (PNA)
