MANILA, July 8 (PNA) — Malacanang on Wednesday assured the public it is working to disseminate the weather updates to ensure their safety.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the government is using different social media platforms to inform the public of weather disturbances.
Lacierda cited as an example the popular messaging application “Viber” with public chats.
“We are very cognizant of the concerns of our citizens, and that’s why we will exert our earnest efforts to really make sure that we update you,” he said in a Palace press briefing.
Lacierda said concerned government agencies such the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)-Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) are providing information on weather situations.
On Wednesday, classes were suspended in all levels in both public and private schools in various cities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to heavy rains brought by typhoon “Falcon”. (PNA)
