SAN FERNANDO, La Union, July 5 (PNA)–There will be no classes in all levels in San Fernando City Monday (July 6), according to a declaration made by Acting Mayor Gilberto Gualberto at 3:00 p.m. today.
This was contained in an advisory of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) posted in the Facebook account of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director Jennilyn Role.
The persistent rains which caused flooding in many parts of the city and to ensure the safety of residents were cited as reasons for the cancellation of classes.
La Union is under typhoon Signal No. 1 as of 7:00 a.m. today (July 5).
As a result of the rains, Kennon Road from Camp 1 in Rosario, La Union to Baguio was closed due to landslides while Naguilian Road from Bauang to Baguio is passable just by one lane, also due to landslides.
The Marcos Highway remains open for all types of vehicles.
A report said flooding was also felt in some areas of Luna, Bangar, Bacnotan, Balaoan and San Juan, La Union. (PNA)
