MANILA, July 5 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Sunday it has prepositioned relief assistance for areas along the path of tropical storm “Egay” in Northern Luzon.
According to DSWD Secretary Corazon J. Soliman, the prepositioned relief aid consists of 288,540 food packs as a ready augmentation to the assistance that will be distributed by the local government unit (LGUs) that may be affected by the weather disturbance.
Secretary Soliman said the department also has a standby fund worth P32,826,244.
The DSWD has also prepared P171,513,975.15 worth of food and non-food items in its field offices, she added.
During disasters, the first or immediate responders are the LGUs, using their budget allocations for such emergencies. (PNA)
