PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, July 4 (PNA) — Several barangays in the southern Palawan town of Rizal are now reportedly flooded due to torrential rains, according Friday to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO).
Rizal MDRRMO chief Douglas Macanas said to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that since June 2 until July 2, rain has not stopped its onslaught in the town, especially now that there is typhoon Egay.
In Barangay Culasian, Rizal, for instance, flood is almost chest-deep, while in barangays Candawaga, Iraan, and Ransang, over 120 individuals have been evacuated from their inundated homes.
Macanas said, so far, no one has been reported missing or killed because of the flood.
Palawan Provincial Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Gilbert Baaco assured that Rizal is being assisted, including the families that have been evacuated with relief assistance.
He said they will not be allowed to go back to their homes yet until floodwaters have subsided.
He furthered that they have already alerted all MDRRMO officers in Palawan to do their own monitoring also, and to immediately report to them for any assistance they can provide.
“We are prepared at the PDRRMO for this rainy season, and in case there will be typhoons that would come Palawan’s way,” he said.(PNA)
