SOFIA, July 1 (PNA/Xinhua) — Bulgarian government established on Wednesday a coordinating council to prepare the country for membership in the eurozone, officials said.
The council, chaired by the minister of finance, should develop a national plan for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria, and propose a target date for adopting the euro, the government said in a press release.
To organize and coordinate the practical preparations for membership in the eurozone, and manage the activities of the expert working groups were among other tasks of the Council, the government said.
Bulgaria has been a member of the European Union since 2007 but has not joined the eurozone. (PNA/Xinhua)
