MANILA, June 28 (PNA) — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. announced the arrest of two suspected male pushers in a buy-bust operation in Dadiangas North, General Santos City, yielding Php 1.1 million worth of of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and six kilos of dried marijuana worth P33,000.

Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspects as Alenor Laow, 31, a resident of Brgy. Bula, General Santos City; and Deya Bataw, single, and a resident of Brgy. Bilaan, Apopong, General Santos City. Both are included in the list of target-listed drug personalities in General Santos City.

The elements of PDEA Regional Office 12 under Director Aileen T. Lovitos conducted a buy-bust operation last June 24 around 9 p.m. along J. P. Laurel Street, corner Balimbing Street, Brgy. Dadiangas North, General Santos City which resulted in the arrest of Laow and Bataw after they agreed to sell two pieces of large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 150 grams with estimated street value of P1.1 million to a PDEA agent who acted as poseur-buyer.

Operatives immediately pounced on the suspects. However, Bataw fired his 9mm revolver to one member of the arresting team, which prompted the same to fire his firearm hitting Bataw’s left leg. The suspect was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Confiscated from Laow and Bataw were six pieces of large pack of marijuana dried leaves wrapped in a newspaper weighing six kilograms with an estimated street value of P33,000.00, one homemade 9mm caliber revolver, five pieces of ammunition for 9mm caliber and the buy-bust money.

Charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court against the suspects. An additional charge for violation of RA10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act) will be filed against Bataw. (PNA)
