ILOILO CITY, June 25 (PNA) — Employment opportunity awaits children of sugar migratory workers also known as ‘sacada’ who underwent skills training and passed the National Certificate Level II (NC II) examination given by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The commitment was done by the Boracay Industry Tripartite Council (BITC) following a signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), TESDA and the BTIC for the provision of skills training to 10 children of sacada workers.
The SACADA-BITC training program gathered 10 children from Madalag, Aklan, where majority of sacadas who were recruited for Negros Occidental and Pampanga came from.
Of the 10 recipients, five girls have enrolled under housekeeping while the remaining five trained on plumbing. DOLE shouldered the expenses for the training.
They will be presented to the BITC once they have passed their NC II. (PNA)
