TACLOBAN CITY, June 23 (PNA) – The city police here asked the public to secure their homes for them to contribute to the zero crime rate target as the fiesta draws near.
“We should always secure the home. Before we leave our houses, we must make sure that everything is secured,” said Tacloban city police office (TCPO) city director Sr. Supt. Domingo Cabillan.
The official’s statement was in response to a report on robbery in Regina Heights last week. The owners left their windows open, therefore giving the criminals a chance to enter the house.
“Because they observe that the owner is not there, perhaps joining activities or in food parks during fiesta-related activities, that’s why these robbers seize their chance,” Cabillan said.
Since the start of festivities this month, their agency has noted car theft and fistfight incidents in places such as festival and food parks where people converge.
In order to prevent crimes, police are now patrolling the city and police outposts designated in crime-prevalent areas. The city police chief said these outposts help reduce crime incidence.
“There should be police presence in the fiesta. Now, even if there is no event, the police still continue to patrol. We were already informed of their activities. We deploy police officers in the venues. We focus, we give immediate attention to crimes like this,” he added. (PNA)
