CEBU CITY, June 22 (PNA) — The Cebu City government needs a Php 100-million first supplemental budget (SB1) this year for the bonus of its 5,000 employees and to pay past obligations.
Cebu City Acting Treasurer Diwa Cuevas said Php 78 million would cover the productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) for the workers, while the remaining Php 22 million covered obligations from preceding years.
The PEI is covered under Executive Order (EO) 181, which was signed by President Benigno C. Aquino III last month.
EO 181 seeks to grant a one-time PEI to all government employees of either Php 5,000 or their one month basic salary.
Local government units (LGU) can grant the PEI only if they have been given the Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) for fiscal year 2014.
The Department of Interior and Local Government awarded Cebu City with the GPH on March 30.
Cuevas said the city was inclined to give the employees a bonus equivalent to their one month salary.
She said her office was already looking for funds that would support the SB 1.
Cuevas said they were targeting to submit the planned SB 1 to the Cebu City Council before the end of the month. (PNA)
