MANILA, (PNA) – The Low Pressure Area (LPA) near Virac, Catanduanes Saturday is expected to dissipate within 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In a phone interview Saturday, PAGASA Weather Forecaster Shaira Nonot said the LPA was predicted to dissipate within 24 hours due to its slight chance of formation.
According to PAGASA’s latest Weather Bulletin, the LPA was calculated at 170 kilometers (km) Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (15.0°N, 125.0°E) as of 4:00 p.m.
PAGASA noted the LPA is embedded along the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) in Visayas, which is considered the breeding ground for typhoons heading down towards the equator.
However, PAGASA said the ITCZ and the LPA would still bring cloudy skies, accompanied by light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.
The two weather formations will affect Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol region, MIMAROPA and Visayas.
Other areas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies along with isolated thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Northern and Central Luzon will have light to moderate winds, coming from the Southwest to South.
PAGASA further noted the coastal waters along the country will be slight to moderate.
