MANILA, June 17 (PNA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT) has welcomed the Philippines’ ranking second among destinations in the world with the best food, according to a survey conducted by CNN.
“We’re making buzz on the internet once again as the Philippines landed on the second spot among destinations with the best food!” the DOT said on its official Twitter account.
To recall, the result came after the American basic cable and satellite television channel conducted an open poll among its readers on Facebook asking them what their favorite culinary destination is.
After obtaining a total of 1,528 votes, the Philippines came second to Taiwan, which got the top spot with 8,242 votes.
With the exception of Italy and Greece, all destinations that took the rest of the 10 spots were in Asia.
CNN describes the Philippines as a destination that’s “blessed with an abundance of seafood, tropical fruits and creative cooks [that] there’s more to Filipino food than the mind-boggling balut (duck embryo).”
It also cited the adobo and lechon as among the most popular food in the country.
Ranking third on the list of destinations in the world with the best food is Italy, followed by Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Greece and Vietnam. (PNA)
