Hundreds hired on the spot during Kalayaan job fair in Davao City

DAVAO CITY, June 14 (PNA) — About 521 job seekers were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the June 12 Kalayaan Job Fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-XI) in partnership with NCCC Mall in this city.

DOLE-XI regional director Joeffrey Suyao said that of the total number, 439 were for local employment while 82 for overseas jobs. The Kalayaan Job Fair is the second of the three major job fairs that DOLE undertakes yearly. The next is on December in time for DOLE’s anniversary.

For this year’s Kalayaan Job Fair, he said a total of 80 employers participated with a total of 27,1550 job vacancies consisting of 4,805 for local employment and 22,350 overseas.

Suyao reported that total job applicants interviewed reached 3,583 broken down to 2,667 for local and 916 for overseas work.

Of those interviewed, he said the total near hire applicants accounted to 1,293 for local and 768 for overseas or a total of 2,061.

He also said that majority of those who applied during the June 12 job hiring were female numbering 2,089 with 1,684 for local employment and 399 overseas jobs. Male applicants accounted to 1,500 but the number of applicants for overseas work was much higher than the female at 517 while those seeking jobs locally accounted for 983. (PNA)
