MANILA, June 6 (PNA) — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has lifted the suspension of the Airline Operator’s Certificate (AOC) of airline company, Magnum Air (Skyjet) Inc.
CAAP director general William Hotchkiss III said in the order that suspension was lifted “as a result of European Union (EU) assessment findings” during its visit last April 16 to 24.
The order further noted that the airline had undertaken “corrective actions” with respect to eight key findings of the EU team.
Hotchkiss meanwhile assured that the authority has monitored and evaluated the corrective actions taken and plans being undertaken by Magnum Air.
He also said that the authority would remain on heightened surveillance of the airline company.
To recall, CAAP imposed the suspension order last May 15.
The lifting of the suspension order followed a series of talks between CAAP and the airline company which had obtained a 20-day temporary retraining order from a Pasay City court.
Magnum Air sued CAAP for Php 20 million in damages, owing to what it said was an arbitrary suspension order denying the airline due process and stranding thousands of passengers.
The talks resulted in an undertaking by the airline company that it will take action on the EU team findings and withdraw the lawsuit. (PNA)
