MANILA, June 5 (PNA) – The National Power Corp. (Napocor) has dispatched Power Barge 113 to Camotes Island, Cebu, to help stabilize the power supply in the area.
”Power Barge 113 will be required to supply 950 kilowatts (kW) to augment Napocor-Small Power Utilities Group’s (SPUG) Camotes Island Diesel Power Plant (DPP) which supplies the island with 1.7 Megawatts (MW),” Napocor said in a statement Friday.
Napocor noted the two small power plants will provide the power needed by the Poro, San Francisco and Tudela municipalities at 2.1 MW from its output of 2.65 MW.
It added both tourism and business industries will benefit from the move.
The barge was moved from Siquijor after its power generation was privatized.
Camotes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CELCO), said power demand grew due to the rapid increase of members consumers brought by the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP). It is the only distribution utility in the area. (PNA)
