SM City Bacolod partners with OSCA, DSSD for grant of free movie passes to elderlies

Posted on June 2, 2015

BACOLOD CITY, June 2 (PNA) — The “Free Movie Pass for Senior Citizens” program in this city was launched Tuesday in rites held at the lobby of SM City Bacolod Cinema.

The initiative is a partnership between the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), and SM City Bacolod.

More than 200 senior citizens, and members of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Bacolod City (FSCAB) headed by Basilisa Atienza attended the event.

They were joined by First Lady Josefa Puentevella, OSCA head Catalino Alisbo, DSSD officer-in-charge Pacita Tero, and Councilors Archie Baribar, Ana Marie Palermo, Sonya Verdeflor, El Cid Familiaran, and SM City Bacolod mall manager George Jardiolin.

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the City of Bacolod through the OSCA and DSSD, and SM City Bacolod for the implementation of the program.

The free movie pass is applicable to all bona fide senior citizen residents of Bacolod with senior citizen ID signed by the authorized signatories and issued by OSCA.

Accommodation will be on the first two screenings of any movie except 3D all Tuesdays of the month.

“The realization of this privilege was once a dream, and now it has been fulfilled. The mayor wants us to enjoy and be happy,” Alisbo, a former city councilor, said.

Mrs. Puentevella extended the mayor’s gratitude to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for supporting the program, and to SM City Bacolod for being the first cinema mall in Bacolod to give free movie passes to senior citizens.

The program is part of SM Corporate Social Responsibility, which also includes a quarterly Seniors Day, and activities for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), and campaign for environment protection. (PNA)
