ILOILO CITY, May 27 (PNA) — The Casa Real de Iloilo or the old capitol of Iloilo will have its soft opening and blessing on Friday.
Vice Governor of Iloilo Raul C. Tupas said the soft opening is in preparation for the June 12 Independence Day celebration because the building will be used for the visit of President Benigno Aquino III for the Vin d’Honneur .
“The soft opening of our old capitol will be just a very simple activity wherein there will be invited people that will come to witness the opening,” Tupas said.
Among the expected people to attend the opening will be the capitol employees, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) and the department heads.
Tupas also said that it will be an honor to the province of Iloilo and to Ilonggos because this will be the first time that the celebration of Independence Day will take place outside Luzon.
The provincial government of Iloilo is also inviting the governors and vice governors in Western Visayas to witness the flag raising event in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
The old capitol will first be used by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) for their 23rd National Council Convention (NCC) on May 30.
The delegates of the national convention will come from the 97 councils all over the country which will be composed of the central board members, council presidents, council executives, young adult representatives and GSP headquarters senior staffs.
“The Girl Scouts Council of Iloilo requested that they will be using the Casa Real de Iloilo for the celebration of their 75th anniversary,” Tupas said. (PNA)
