TOKYO, May 26 (PNA/Xinhua) — A panel advising the Japanese government on economic policy is expected to discuss a proposal Tuesday to further ease visa requirements to draw more tourists from such countries as China, India and Brazil as a step to revitalize local economies, government sources said.
Four members of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy with academic and business backgrounds will suggest the proposal be included in an economic and fiscal policy blueprint to be compiled by the panel by the end of June, the sources said.
The proposal comes at a time when Japan is seeing a record number of foreign tourists on the back of the yen’s depreciation and relaxed visa requirements for Chinese and other Asian visitors. (PNA/Xinhua)
